Pennsylvania Rideshare Insurance for Uber and Lyft Drivers
Geico and Erie are the only insurance that will insure both Lyft and Uber drivers. It is the cheapest option. Metromile only insures Uber drivers. Metromile will be a good option if you drive less than 7000 miles a year as it is distance based.
- Geico: If you live in CT, GA, MD, OH, PA, TX, or VA and have been approved to drive for Uber (UberX and UberXL), Lyft and other on-demand services, you may be eligible for GEICO Ridesharing Insurance. GEICO’s ridesharing policy is the affordable alternative that covers your vehicle for personal use, ridesharing and other on-demand services. Bridging the gap, this “hybrid auto policy” provides coverage when the rideshare app is off, when it is on with no passengers in the vehicle, and when it is on with passengers (subject to exclusions and conditions).
- Erie- They launched what they believe to be a first-of-its-kind coverage to protect drivers who use ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft. The new car insurance coverage solves a longstanding problem for drivers in the ridesharing economy by eliminating confusion over what’s covered and when. With ERIE’s new coverage, the driver has insurance coverage during every part of the trip—before, during and after the hired ride.
- Metromile (Uber only): Metromile is a pay-per-mile insurance that is geared to save money for drivers who don’t drive very often. However, if you drive over 10k miles, it will cost more than traditional insurance options.
