Uber is constantly changing the Uber sign up bonus in each city. I get a lot of emails every week about how much the Uber new driver bonus is in each market and I try my best to find out. I normally have to email into their support email in order to find out the Uber driver bonus for each individual market and every so often they get back to me with a list of referral bonuses.
I have seen these Uber sign up bonus and guarantees on the rise over the past few months. On average, the Uber driver bonus is $200 after 50 trips with the highest being $1025 for drivers in San Francisco Bay area. Below is the list of Uber new driver bonus I have gathered so far. Note that these Uber driver bonus and guarantees can change without notice so it is best to check with Uber Support for the actual uber new driver bonus after you sign up. You also have 30 days from when you become an active driver to complete the trip requirement for the Uber driver bonus.

Uber Sign Up Bonus vs Uber Sign Up Guarantee
Uber changed the Uber sign up bonus in the past few months to an Uber sign up guarantee. What Uber does now is guarantee your trip earnings over the first number of trips, from 20 to 100 trips. For example, you are guaranteed $1025 in trip earnings when you complete 100 trips. If you did not earn $1025 after 100 trips, Uber will give you a small Uber new driver bonus to make up for it. Note that the Uber new driver bonus and guarantees are before the 25% commission, so take that into account. In addition, any Uber driver bonus you get is also subjected to taxes so make sure to set some money aside for the tax.
How to Maximize Uber Driver Bonus and Guarantee
The one key element for the Uber new driver guarantee is the number of trips you need to do, whether it is 20 or 100. Keep in mind that each UberPool request is one ride, so if you pick up three people, that is 3 separate trips towards your Uber new driver guarantee.
In addition, I make sure to try to get short trips within the city. One of the places I get these trips is usually at college campuses that are close to other hotspots students go to. I typically average 3-4 trips an hour without UberPool and these trips are usually only $3-$5 per trip and they only amount to a mile or two. So if I were in San Francisco, that would be $30-$40 for that hour and I have only driven about 5-7 miles total. After commission, that is about $22-$30 for that hour net to drive about 7 miles. That is over $3 per mile, which is pretty good.
It is also in your best interest to avoid driving during surge pricing since a few high priced trips will drastically increase your trip earnings, which will remove much of the incentive to drive. For new drivers, it is best to start off during less busy times of the week, such as weekday mid-day or weekend morning and afternoons. It will be daylight outside, making driving and navigating easier. The demand is also lower, so you have more time to learn the application and the whole workflow of driving passengers around.

How Do I Sign Up for the Uber New Driver Bonus?
You can sign up for Uber. Note that the Uber new driver bonus can change without notice so make sure to email [email protected] to confirm your Uber new driver bonus.
If you are not a Lyft driver yet, you should consider signing up for Lyft and become an active Lyft driver before signing up for Uber. You may get a larger bonus if you do this (see below). See this link for more details about Lyft’s signup bonus.
What If I am a Lyft Driver?
If you are a Lyft driver, there is a separate bonus offer for you. Your bonus offer will usually be between $250-$500 after 25 trips, depending on the market. Most markets will have this bonus and is separate from the above new driver bonus offer.
Here are the requirements:
- Have been active on Lyft or Sidecar platform prior to application
- Have a car 2005 or newer (It may be different in some markets)
- Take 25 trips on the Uber platform within 30 days of being active on the Uber system
- Be a noncommercial driver (such as uberX)
- Provide us the most recent pay statement confirming their Lyft experience
You can sign up for this bonus offer from Uber
I would encourage all Lyft drivers to sign up and try Uber. I know many Lyft drivers who did their trips on Uber, got their Uber sign up bonus and then went right back to Lyft. It is a quick way to make a few hundred bucks and broaden your rideshare experience to make you a better driver. I average about 2.75 trips an hour with Uber so it should only take you about 9-10 hours to finish the 25 trips. It will be up to you to decide if Uber is worth it to you long term after you get your Uber sign up bonus.
By working on both platforms, you have a much higher chance of reducing wait times and boost your earnings. Sometimes only Lyft has PTT, and other times only Uber has Surge Pricing. I switch between the two depending on which one has the higher multiplier. It’s one of the ways that I increase my earnings every time I am driving, sometimes doubling my hourly income based on PTT/Surge Pricing. The Uber sign up bonus is just an added benefit. When I first started with Uber, I missed the Uber sign up bonus by just a few rides, but I found it worthwhile to continue driving for Uber because of the additional income I was getting from Uber.
What if you are already driving on Uber?
Well, this is a perfect time to recruit your friends to drive for Uber as well. When you are an Uber driver, you can now use your referral code to get your friends to sign up under your code and often you get an Uber sign up bonus too. I know a few drivers who have recruit many of their friends and get thousands a week in Uber driver bonus by keeping updated on the latest promotions and being proactive about recruiting. Remember that half of all Uber drivers quit anyway after they get the Uber driver bonus and many don’t stay on for very long so find friends who you think won’t do this long term and sign them up to avoid diluting your own driver pool. Most of my referrals have stopped driving after getting the Uber driver bonus so I’m not really concerned about my referrals leading to surplus of Uber drivers.
