How to Sign Up For Caviar and In-Person Interview Session
Caviar is a restaurant food delivery service, similar to Postmates and Doordash. They tend to specialize in higher quality restaurants. Drivers are paid by distance and customers have the ability to leave a tip. Like Postmates, you can sign on at anytime but there is a difference between if you are scheduled and when you just sign on. Caviar claims that couriers who are scheduled gets priority in the delivery requests. I sometimes see orders that have very tight delivery times, which usually results in many drivers skipping over the order.
Caviar does not provide a payment card, which means that all orders are already placed and prepaid. This eliminates some time waiting at the restaurant to order and for the food to be prepared. However, I had my share of troubles with the restaurant not being ready by the specified time.
How to Sign Up For Caviar
You can use this link to sign up to be a courier.
This is the first step in applying for Caviar.
You start with entering in your email and password for your account.
The next step is your personal details. You will enter in your name, phone number, phone type (Android or iOS), address, region you want to deliver in, vehicle type and your birth date.

Once you finish the steps above, you will get an email with a questionnaire and also a link to a few videos to watch.

Caviar is the easiest way to order from Seattle’s best independent restaurants. We are part of Square’s full suite of tools for businesses, enabling restaurants across the country to reach more customers, grow their sales and expand their reach.
If you haven’t downloaded the Caviar Courier App you may get it here for IOS (you may need to manually “trust” the app) or Android. You won’t be able to login to the app until after attending an onboarding session.
Your next step will be to complete our courier questionnaire. Applicants who successfully answer these questions will be invited to an onboarding session at our Seattle office. Direct links to the required videos for this questionnaire are below:

Once you finish this, you will get another email within day or two if you are accepted for the next phase in the application process.
Caviar In-Person Interview
In the next email you get from Caviar, it will invite you to an in-person interview. They gave me two different days about two weeks apart. I took the first slot. There will be a link to confirm which slot you want to take. Once you pick a slot, you will get a confirmation email with the person you are meeting and date/time/location of the in-person interview session.
Here is the confirmation email I got:
Your In-Person Session with Caviar is scheduled for ____________. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early for parking and check-in. You’ll need to take the elevator to the first floor to reach the WeWork reception area. You may download the courier app for either Android or iOS. However, you will not be able to login until completing your Onboarding Session.
We strongly recommend bringing a laptop to fill out your onboarding forms. If you do not have a laptop these forms can be filled out on your mobile device. In order to fill out these forms you will need to bring the following items:
- Your Driver’s License or official Photo ID for background check purposes
- Your Banking Information (checking account information or debit card) for your direct deposit forms
- Your Social Security Number for filling out your independent contractor tax form
- For motor vehicle couriers you will need to bring your Vehicle Insurance information
All Caviar couriers will be required to use thermal delivery bags to keep food in good condition while completing deliveries. Caviar delivery bags and T-shirts can be purchased from the Seattle office (debit or credit only):
- Caviar Pizza bag (recommended): $22
- Caviar Tote Bag (recommended): $5
- Caviar Bike Delivery Bag: $45
- Caviar T-shirt: $6
- Rectangular Caviar Delivery bag: $20
If you have your own bag, please bring it to the onboarding session so we can verify it. You must provide proof of eligible delivery bags before your courier account is activated.

Seattle Courier Onboarding Team
The one annoying thing about Caviar is that we had to buy the various delivery bags. You can use your own, namely the free Postmates and Uber Eats bag, but I find it more professional to use the Caviar bags. Also, the insulated bags from Caviar is a bit thicker than the other bags. I really like the Bike Delivery bags since it is great for both pizza and large orders. They require that you have at least two insulated bags so you can use one Postmates and Uber Eats bag if you like. You can also buy one on Amazon for about the same price. Take a look at the below link for other options for couriers:
In-Person Interview
The In-Person Interview is more like an onboarding session. There were four other couriers there. The onboarding person for Caviar went over a presentation and talked about the application, the service, the order workflow, and then showed us the different Caviar insulated bags they offered. During the onboarding session, they emailed a link to start the background check. This asks for your driver’s license, banking information, social security number and vehicle insurance information.
Even though this is the most expensive option, I would recommend getting a Bike Delivery Bag and a Tote Bag. The Bike delivery bag is really useful because you can wear it, which allows you to hold more bags in either hand and be able to operate your car remote and doors. I think having a bike delivery bag and a pizza bag is a bit excessive, but if you deliver full time and only do food delivery, as opposed to Instacart or Amazon Flex, then getting an additional pizza bag can be helpful.
There was a bicycle courier who had his background check clear within an hour. My background check took 8 days, which I thought was a bit excessive. Needless to say, I didn’t start being a courier until the following week.
