Last night, I got home at around 1:30am and didn’t sleep until 3:30am so I decided to sleep in today. I woke up at around 10:30 and got out of the house around noon. I went to Microcenter in Brooklyn to pick up a new phone windshield mount to take a better time lapse video and also a DC charger for my laptop. I spent about 2 hours there and the DC power adapter ended up not fitting my laptop anyway so it ended up being a huge waste of time. The phone mount worked well, despite mostly negative reviews of it. The one I got was the only good candidate in the store and I was desperate to find one.
I got some lunch and I left Brooklyn around 3pm. It took an hour to get to Elizabeth, NJ due to traffic and managed to get a quick Lyft as I was getting off the Goethals Bridge. I took someone to work at BJs about 2 miles away, so much easier than yesterday.
I made a beeline down to Baltimore and it was mostly traffic free, minus a few short delays. Being that it was a Friday afternoon, I considered myself lucky. Once I got into Baltimore, I went straight into downtown to try to get a Lyft and I did within a few minutes. They were going to Hampden, which seemed to be a small cluster of restaurants by John Hopkins University.
After my quick trip in Baltimore, I headed about 60 miles south to DC. I turned on my app a bit far away from the city center but still got a ride fairly quickly. Unfortunately, it was a longer 20 minute trip across the city. I was taking someone to a house party and he seemed to bring a suitcase of beer. He seemed to be in a rush but there only seemed to be a few people at the party anyway.
I looked up a Thai restaurant to pick up some dinner and it unfortunately was back where I came from. I drove another 20 minutes the other way to get my dinner, which was actually good (from Thip Khao) but I was just too tired to enjoy it. I ate most of it at my friend’s place but was fairly exhausted to finish it.
It was a decent day but I wished that I didn’t waste so much time at Microcenter. Hopefully I can make up for lost time and get down to Orlando by tomorrow night. It will definitely be a lot of driving. Wish me luck!
How Can You Help?
I have set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise additional money for charity. It will be running for the next few months. Below is the link to the campaign:
GoFundMe Rideshare Dashboard Mental Health Drive
Even a dollar will go a long way so give what you can and it will be deeply appreciated!
You can also help by emailing ridesharedashboard at gmail.com with travel advice, what to see in each of the below cities and your best food recommendations. I have travelled extensively abroad, but I will be visiting many of these states for the first time.
Want to Know Where I am now?
I will continue to post regular updates of my trip on my Facebook Page and my Twitter feed so look there to keep track of where I am! I usually move through 4-6 cities a day so I’m definitely a moving target.
