Uber New $500 Referral Bonus In July 2015 for Lyft Drivers

Uber New $500 Referral Bonus In July 2015 for Lyft Drivers

[Update: The Uber referral bonus for Lyft drivers in San Francisco is $600 after 20 trips. You can sign up with the link below.]

The offer has been updated such that Lyft Drivers who apply for Uber after 7/1/15 will qualify for the bonus if you were an active Lyft Driver at any time.

This is a great time to sign up for Uber as you only have to be driving on Lyft for a few days to get this great promotion. They updated the promotion and completely removed the start date requirement on Lyft, as long as you applied for Uber after 7/1/15. If you applied to Uber before 7/1/15, you would still need to be a Lyft driver as of 3/31 to qualify for the $500 bonus.

The Uber trip requirement is now unfortunately 25 trips (up from 20 just a few months ago) but it is still a pretty good offer. 20 trips was the norm last year until they got aggressive with the promotion last November and reduced the number of required trips down to just one trip.

If you are not an Uber driver yet, make sure to sign up for Lyft and become an active Lyft driver before signing up for Uber. You may get a larger bonus if you do this. See this link for more details.

Here are the requirements:

You can sign up for Uber and get $500 with this form.

I would encourage all Lyft drivers to sign up and try Uber. I know many Lyft drivers who did their trips on Uber, got their $500 and then went right back to Lyft. It is a quick way to make a few hundred bucks and broaden your rideshare experience to make you a better driver. I average about 2.75 trips an hour with Uber so it should only take you about 9-10 hours to finish the 25 trips. It will be up to you to decide if Uber is worth it to you long term after you get your $500.

By working on both platforms, you have a much higher chance of reducing wait times and boost your earnings. Sometimes only Lyft has PTT, and other times only Uber has Surge Pricing. I switch between the two depending on which one has the higher multiplier. It’s one of the ways that I increase my earnings every time I am driving, sometimes doubling my hourly income based on PTT/Surge Pricing.

Why did Uber Increase number of trips?

They increased the number of trips because Uber knows a lot of people signed up for Lyft during the whole crazy $1000 signup promotion, so they wanted to make it harder for those drivers to convert. The previous promotions were only one trip because they had trouble recruiting Lyft drivers but now they know there are so many more of them around, so they don’t need to make the promotion as attractive as before.

What if you are already driving on Uber?

Well, this is a perfect time to recruit your friends who drive on Lyft to drive for Uber as well. When you are an Uber driver, you can now use your referral code to get your friends to sign up under your code and you can both make $500. I know a few drivers who have recruit many of their friends and get thousands a week from keeping updated on the latest promotions and being proactive about recruiting.
