Lyft Limit Earnings on Passenger and Driver Referral
When the driver referral page first appeared on the Lyft Portal, it had giant letters saying “Earn up to $15,000 by referring new drivers!” I thought it was a bit odd that they had such a specific number called out on the top of the page so I sent an email to Lyft support about it.
Well after a few weeks of emails, I finally got my first and only reply:
- The $15,000 earning limit is for the lifetime of the Lyft driver, not just for one year.
- The $15,000 earning limit is for both Lyft passenger and Lyft driver referrals. I know of a few long time Lyft drivers who supplements their income through passenger referrals by giving out referral cards. Some of them have said that they will hit the referral earning limit by next year, which is a bit concerning.
I believe that Lyft under-estimated how much drivers can make through passenger and driver referrals. I hope that this article will help educate Lyft drivers and get them to speak up against this $15,000 referral limit. You can do that by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]
Well at least some of us has options. There is no such referral earning limit on Uber. Below is the wording on their driver referral page:
Get rewarded every time one of your referrals starts driving with Uber. There’s no limit to how many friends you can invite—or how much cash you can collect.
I would guess that this statement would also apply for passenger referrals as well.Have more questions about Uber or Lyft? Head on over to our Rideshare Driver Training Course!
